Mitsubishi’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) model of the all-new Outlander range has earned a Five Star award, the highest rating, in the Vehicle Performance 2021 car assessment by Japan New Car Assessment Program.

The all-new Outlander is Mitsubishi’s flagship model, bringing together the best in electrification and all-wheel control technologies, while also utilising a new platform that incorporates an array of advanced technologies.

The company is fully committed to developing and implementing active and passive safety technologies and protection.

Safety in the event of a collision

Featuring Mitsubishi’s RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body, the Outlander incorporates ultra-high tensile strength steel around the passenger compartment. It achieves both passenger safety and weight reduction through a combination of a high-impact absorbing front body structure and a high-durability, low-deformation passenger compartment structure. Seven SRS airbags are standard fitment on all models.

Preventing collisions

A host of active safety technologies are fitted as standard on all models, combining nine advanced driver assist features including Forward Collision Mitigation as well as Emergency Assist for Pedal Misapplication.

The Outlander comes standard with Adaptive LED headlights, which deliver superior night visibility by adapting the illumination range and brightness of the headlights depending on the conditions.

Automatic accident emergency call system

The Outlander is equipped with SOS Emergency Assistance with Automatic Collision Notification to connect with Helpnet.

Mitsubishi Outlander wins prestigious design award

The all-new Outlander also won the iF Design Award, one of the most prestigious design awards, organised by the iF International Forum Design based in Hannover, Germany.

This award is recognised as a symbol of design excellence around the world. In 2022, 11 000 entries were submitted to be judged by a panel of international design experts on the criteria of idea, form, function, differentiation and impact.

The Outlander PHEV brings together the best in electrification and all-wheel drive technologies, while utilising a new-generation platform and an array of advanced technologies. The design incorporates thick horizontal proportions, which produce a bold fixating presence and jet tail fin pillars inspired by the vertical tail of airplanes, which expresses the vehicles powerful yet nimble performance.

Interior materials were carefully selected to enhance the premium feel, while the horizontally sculpted instrument panel, which makes it easy to understand the position of the car while driving adds a feeling of spaciousness.

Judges of the iF Design award particularly praised the Outlander for its form function and differentiation.

The leap forward with the new Outlander symbolises the progress that Mitsubishi has made in terms of sales as well as the expansion of their dealer network to a total of 50 dealerships.
