All-new Volkswagen Polo Sedan goes on sale

Volkswagen’s last remaining Sedan offering, the new Polo Sedan, has gone on sale in South Africa. The offering comprises three derivatives, which includes manual and automatic models.

Modern design

The new Polo Sedan boasts a striking exterior design and is longer, wider and higher than the model it replaces.

Standout features include LED headlights and taillights, a signature chrome grille, 16-inch alloy wheels and a chrome package that features chrome window strips and chrome door handles, which do a great job of accentuating its looks.

Inside story

Inside the Polo features a stylish, versatile and modern interior that offers the latest in terms of connectivity and technology.

By offering a premium dual tone interior, which includes dual-tone seat upholstery as well as premium touch surfaces the Polo Sedan has perfectly executed the combination of comfort and elegance. Boot space measures 521 litres.

Standard features include keyless entry, ambient lighting, a multifunction steering wheel and Climatronic air-conditioning on Life derivatives.

Entertainment and connectivity features include a seven-inch touchscreen radio or a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that features wireless App-Connect and eight speakers, depending on the derivative.

Standard safety equipment includes two airbags, electronic stability control, multi-collision braking system, tyre pressure monitoring, rear park distance control. Life models feature a rear-view camera while Life Tiptronic derivatives offer Hill Start Assist functionality.

Under the bonnet

The Polo Sedan is fitted with the tried and tested four-cylinder MPI petrol engine, which offers 81kW and 152Nm of torque. Performance figures include a 0-100km/h sprint time of 11.2 seconds on its way to a top speed of 190km/h. Most importantly the Polo Sedan uses as little as 6.2 litres per 100km. The Polo Sedan is available with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed Tiptronic transmission.

Fully equipped

The Polo Sedan range comes fully equipped and there are no optional features available.

Standout features on the entry-level derivative include LED headlights and taillights, 16-inch steel wheels, App-Connect, a seven-inch touchscreen radio, cruise control and a multi-function steering wheel.

The Polo Sedan Life derivative adds keyless entry and start, rear view camera, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless mobile charging, wireless App-Connect, power adjustable and folding mirrors, climatronic air conditioning, ambient lighting, leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel and gear lever, front fog lamps and cornering lights and 16-inch Scimitar alloy wheels to the standard offering.

Model range and pricing

The new Polo Sedan is sold with a three-year/120 000km warranty and a three-year/45 000km service plan.
