Ahead of its global reveal and launch later this year, Volkswagen has released another design sketch of the all-new Amarok, which reveals a number of interesting details.

One department where the Amarok has been massively improved is the interior. Uncluttered, masculine architecture along with clear taut surfaces and a particularly high quality throughout raise the bar to a new level and ensure that the Amarok can claim its status as a premium vehicle.

The steering wheel is similar to that found in the latest Volkswagen SUV models as is the digital cockpit display. The centre console features an extremely large vertical touchscreen panel that will presumably allow for the manipulation of the wide variety of driver assistance and connectivity features.

The new Amarok will be equipped with a wide variety of driver assist systems as well as a wide range of impressive connectivity features along with a number of innovations that to date have not been seen in this segment.

Under the bonnet

Volkswagen has also confirmed that they will continue to use their range of highly efficient TDI diesel engines in the new Amarok, which includes the powerful V6 TDI that currently boasts 190kW.

Brand-new design

As revealed a few months ago, the front end of the new Amarok is set to impress with a striking design that will distinguish the Amarok from its competitors while still retaining features that are familiar, particularly from Volkswagen’s SUV range, through use of the family design DNA.

A sculpted bonnet and side profile give the bakkie a chiselled look while wide arches complete with dark coloured garnishes to create an appearance of width. A large raked windscreen hints at improved aerodynamics while short overhangs will equate to good approach and departure angles, necessary for extreme off-roading. The exterior dimensions will be ten centimetres longer and four centimetres wider than those of its predecessor.

Volkswagen believes that the Amarok will retain its unique skillset and be able to handle everything from large loads to tricky off-road terrain.

The all-new Volkswagen Amarok is set to be unveiled and launched later this year, with exact dates still to be confirmed.
