Hino South Africa recently introduced a new range of 300-series trucks. This revised range has been carefully selected to provide a transport solution to best meet the requirements of its customers who are involved in a host of varied operations throughout the country.

Although the total number of models in the range remains at 12, there have been some significant changes to the model mix. The number of models with a six-speed fully automatic transmission has now increased from four to seven, covering all major model variants, with three of them fitted to crew cabs.

The 614 models continue to be fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox, which now features revised ratios. The other three manual models are now fitted with a new six-speed gearbox.

Under the bonnet

All Hino 300-Series trucks are powered by a four-cylinder, 4.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine in various states of tune. Some models feature 78kW and 263Nm, while the models with a higher GVM rating boast 116kW and 404Nm.

A solution for every need

Wheelbase lengths vary between 2.525m and 4.2m depending on the intended application.

Both the 614 models, with a 5.5-ton GVM and the 714 models, with a 6.5-ton GVM are available as with short and long-wheel base manual derivatives. Only the short-wheelbase model is available with an automatic gearbox.

The 816 models boast a GVM of 7.5-tons, are available in short-wheel base only, with either a manual or an automatic gearbox.

The 916 models have a GVM of 8.5-tons and are available in long wheelbase configurations only, with either a manual or an automatic gearbox option.

The range is completed with three crew cab models, featuring the 714, 816 and 916 nomenclature. The crew cabs are available in long wheelbase configurations only and are paired with the fuel efficient six-speed automatic transmission.
