Hyundai are looking to answer the needs of business owners looking for a small, safe, economical transport vehicle with a versatile range of Cargo models.

Converted Grand i10 and Atos Cargo hatchback models are two of the extremely versatile vehicles in Hyundai’s local range, offering a secure 1.2 cubic metre loading space. Hooks to secure goods or a cargo net and a strong wire mesh barrier between the cargo area and the front seats are simple yet effective modifications that transform these hatchbacks into working class heroes. Rear side windows are also covered with a strong wire mesh to keep goods safe.

Three derivatives are on offer in this configuration including the Atos 1.1 Motion Cargo manual, Atos 1.1 Fluid Cargo manual and Grand i10 Motion Cargo manual.

These models cater for the need of a small cargo transporter, particularly for delivery of smaller parcels that need to be kept in a secure cargo hold.

Making business sense

The Grand i10 and Atos 1.1 have also been homologated as commercial vehicles, which comes with the added benefit of allowing business owners to claim back the VAT on their purchase.

The Hyundai Cargo models are a very good substitute for half-ton bakkies, which are very popular for a wide variety of business needs and offer a very competitive cost of ownership.

The Atos and Grand i10 models that these commercial variants are based on are well known for offering excellent reliability. This is further backed up by a seven-year/200 000km warranty.

Under the bonnet

Powering the Grand i10 1.0 Motion Cargo is a 998cc normally aspirated engine. This three-cylinder delivers 49kW and 94Nm and is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox. Hyundai claim that this model sips just 5,4 litres/100km.

The Atos Cargo models are fitted with a 1 086cc four-cylinder that boasts 50kW and 99Nm and is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox. The Atos is said to use 5,7 litres/100km.

Attractive styling

The recently launched Grand i10 as well as the Atos are fitted with body coloured bumpers and door handles and run on either 13 or 14-inch steel wheels fitted with an attractive cover.

Inside story

The spacious cabin of the Atos Cargo offers convenience features including a seven-inch infotainment system complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, air conditioner, electric windows, central locking as well as audio and Bluetooth controls on the steering wheel. The Atos Cargo is fitted with comfortable cloth-covered seats.

The Grand i10 Cargo boasts a similarly spacious cabin and seats that are height adjustable. Convenience features include remote keyless entry, a manual air conditioner, 6.2-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, electrically adjustable side mirrors and opening side windows.

The Grand i10 Cargo and Atos Fluid Cargo models are fitted with driver and front passenger airbags while the Atos Motion Cargo comes with an airbag for the driver. All models are fitted with three-point seatbelts with pre-tensioners for driver and passenger, ABS, EBD, crumple zones and side impact protection beams.
