Hyundai South Africa has added a Cargo derivative to its Venue offering. This model features a spacious, secure cargo hold and 500kg payload that promises to be a popular choice for businesses looking for a small commercial vehicle that offers the advantage for VAT registered businesses of being able to claim back the tax on the purchase.

As with the Grand i10 Cargo, the Venue Cargo features a large cargo area, thanks to the removal of the rear seat bench as well as a steel mesh partition for extra security between the front passenger compartment and the loading area. In addition, smaller steel grids have been fitted to the rear side window openings and the rear window of the hatchback, which ensure added security while also preventing the glass from being damaged by the goods being transported.

Hyundai have enjoyed considerable success since the launch of the i10 Cargo and believe that the Venue will be just as popular due to its increased load capacity paired with extremely low running costs compared to competitors able of the same task.

The Hyundai Venue Cargo is based on the refreshed Hyundai Venue 1.2 Motion and features the same bold new front grille with the indicator light cluster on the far top corners forming a unit with the grille and the headlamps housed in separate clusters. When facelifted last year the hatch door was made wider at the bottom, offering a bigger opening, which in the case of the Venue Cargo makes the loading of large items in and out of the rear compartment easier. Completing the exterior are 15-inch steel wheel rims with a styled cover and a Polar White exterior colour which is the perfect basis for business branding.

Business focused interior

The interior of the Venue Cargo offers intuitive controls and excellent use of exterior dimensions to create a spacious cabin for the driver and front passenger.

The loading area behind the front seats measures a massive 1 296 litres and 1 200mm in both length and width while being 900mm high.

Convenience features include an infotainment system that incorporates an eight-inch display audio touchscreen system and rear-view monitor. This system allows for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto smartphone mirroring, ensuring that drivers who spend a lot of time behind the wheel can manage their daily functions, calls and navigation safely. Drivers will also appreciate the USB cell phone charging ports, a Supervision 4,2-inch TFT LCD display offering useful information for the driver and Bluetooth hands free operation as well as a manual air conditioner.

Safety equipment includes two front airbags as well as three-point seatbelts with pretensioners and force limiters. ABS and EBD allow for safe stopping in all conditions.

Under the bonnet

Under the bonnet is a naturally aspirated four-cylinder Kappa 1.2-litre MPi petrol engine that offers 61kW and 115Nm. Power is transferred to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The frugal engine boasts an average fuel consumption figure of 6,5 litres per 100km on the combined cycle.

McPherson struts along with a stabiliser bar and coil springs are utilised upfront while a coupled torsion beam axle with coil springs ensures good road holding and the ability to carry a big cargo load.

Pricing

The Hyundai Venue Cargo is covered by the same seven yea/200 000km warranty as the rest of the range, which further adds to its value for money proposition.
