Hyundai refreshes popular Creta
Hyundai Creta receives makeover
Hyundai has treated their popular Creta to an eye-catching makeover, which along with its comprehensive standard specification offering will continue to make it a popular choice in this segment.
The new range comprises three derivatives with Premium and Executive specification levels, all fitted with the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and Intelligent Variable Transmission.
Fresh face
The 2022 Hyundai Creta has been treated to fresh, exterior styling, including an attractive front grille and lights, which make a dramatic first impression. On Executive models, the daytime running lights are incorporated into the parametric jewel pattern grille.
The headlights, which are halogen on Premium derivatives and LED on Executive derivatives, are located below the outer edge of the new parametric jewel pattern grille. The rear tailgate features a new design that incorporates the Creta model name in bold chrome letters.
Styling upgrades include an attractive silver inset that stretches from the A to C-pillar. Brand new 17-inch alloy wheels, which feature unique designs for the Premium and Executive variants, complete the picture.
Inside story
The interior adopts a clean, minimalistic design throughout the spacious cabin. Passengers benefit from added comfort in the form of a central armrest. The driver’s seat features height adjustment and the steering wheel is adjustable for reach and height, ensuring that the driver can find a comfortable position.
Convenience features include a multifunction steering wheel with remote control buttons for the infotainment system, trip computer and cruise control as well as a wireless charging pad on Executive derivatives. Rear park assist and a reverse camera help with manoeuvring while an electronic park brake frees up space on the centre console.
An eight-inch infotainment touch screen features voice control as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.
A rear console contains air vents for rear passengers as well as a 12V power socket and USB charging socket.
Under the bonnet
A naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1 497cc, paired with either a six-speed manual or Intelligent Variable automatic transmission, drives the front wheels of the Creta.
The 1.5-litre engine offers 84kW at 6 300rpm and 144Nm at 4 500rpm. Technology such as Middle Position Lock CVVT aim to improve efficiency and resulted in us using just 6,1 litres per 100km on our test route.
SUV credentials
McPherson strut front suspension and a coupled torsion beam axle at the rear combine to give the Creta a firm, yet comfortable ride. 200mm of ground clearance aided by generous 60-profile tyres on 17-inch rims, ensures real SUV ability and allows the Creta to venture onto gravel with confidence,
Safety comes standard
Premium models feature front and side airbags for the driver and front passenger while Executive models are fitted with an additional two curtain airbags.
Isofix child seat attachments on the outer rear seats are standard, as are three-point Inertia reel safety belts with pretensioners for the front seats.
Active safety systems include Electronic Stability Control, a tyre pressure monitoring system and Hill-start Assist Control.
