Only months after its initial introduction the Kia Sonet has secured its position as one of SA’s most popular compact SUVs. Now the range consisting of mid-specification Sonet EX models will be complemented by two entry-level Sonet LX derivatives that are all about value for money.

Like the EX models, the LX derivatives are fitted with Kia’s advanced, punchy and frugal 1.5 MPI naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering 85kW at 6 300rpm and 144Nm at 4 500rpm. Customers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT transmission.

Interior comfort and convenience features include a 8.0-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system featuring Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, air-conditioning, Bluetooth, front and rear electric windows, six-speakers, height adjustable driver’s seat, a combination of artificial leather and cloth seat trim and a rear view camera. From the outside LX derivatives can be identified by 15-inch steel wheels.

A considerable portion of the Sonet’s body is made up of high-strength and advanced high-strength steel. This lightweight yet robust structure is complimented by key safety features including ABS with EBD, ESC, Hill-start assist, Dual front airbags, isofix child seat anchors.

When it comes to comfort, convenience and features Kia South Africa is confident that the LX’s value proposition will further bolster the Sonet’s popularity.

Pricing and availability

The LX models offer a substantial saving over the previously launched EX models and are sold with the same five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and four-year/60 000km service plan.
