The launch of the reinvented Land Rover Defender last year was the beginning of a new range of the most capable and durable 4x4 by the British brand. Now the range is being extended locally with the launch of the short wheelbase Defender 90.

At launch the model range includes the Defender S, X-Dynamic, First Edition and range topping Defender X models, each sold with four engine options.

Defender S

Standard equipment on the Defender S includes LED headlights, keyless entry, Ebony grained leather with woven textile seat facings and a Pivi Pro 10 inch touchscreen complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. Driver assistance technology includes Terrain Response, 3D surround cameras, emergency braking, lane keep assist, 360 degree parking aid, wade sensing and a driver condition monitor.

X-Dynamic

Next in the line up is the X-Dynamic model that features a tough exterior look and unique interior fittings to set it apart. Gloss painted Narvik black exterior door and wheel arch cladding compliment silicon satin skid pans.

Inside highly durable Robustec material, borrowed from the outdoor industry, adorns the seat ribbons and console. The Defender X-Dynamic is available with SE and HSE Specification Packs.

X-Derivative

The range-topping X derivative features a gloss black inset contrast hood as standard along with gloss black claddings. To further differentiate between the X and Core vehicles, the front and rear skid pans and other detailed exterior parts are coated in a starlight satin finish while the brake callipers are painted orange. The dashboard cross beam features a dark grey powder coated finish while the door sills are illuminated with a Defender script.

The X model is fitted with air suspension along with an electronic active rear differential, configurable Terrain Response 2, a sliding panoramic roof, Matrix LED headlights, 14-way heated and cooled front seats, a ClearSight rear view mirror and heads-up display.

First Edition

The Defender First Edition, will be available in iconic colours Pangea Green, Gondwana Stone or Hakuba Silver, with a folding fabric sunroof incorporated into the contrasting white roof. Standard equipment includes air suspension, 12-way heated seats, an electrically adjustable steering column, ClearSight rear view mirror and 20-inch alloys

Embracing 21st century technology

The modern iteration of this 4x4 icon uses the latest technology to ensure that it is a highly capable off-road vehicle.

Configurable Terrain Response allows drivers to set-up the vehicle to suit a wide variety of off-road conditions and surfaces. The system also includes a new Wade program that optimises all of the vehicle systems accordingly to allow safe passage through water up to 900mm deep.

Customisation options

The Defender 90 can be individualised with one of four accessory packs to give it a distinct character.

The Explorer pack includes accessories such as a snorkel and roofrack while the Adventure Pack consists of a portable rinse system for rinsing off outdoor gear and an integrated air compressor.

The Country Pack adds front and rear mud flaps, a full height load space partition and a portable rinse system.

The Urban Pack adds bright metal pedals, a bright rear scuff plate, a spare wheel cover and front under shield protection.
