Lexus have ratified their UX line up, now only offering hybrid models along with the addition of an F-Sport derivative.

The Lexus UX offers high levels of luxury and safety in a package that combines bold design with an ultra-efficient powertrain.

Developed for modern urban motorists the UX has been designed to offer an engaging driving experience along with the characteristic Lexus refinement that makes it a unique offering in the SUV segment.

Lexus has rationalised the UX range and will now be offering a hybrid model only, which offers low fuel consumption and emissions and that is a realistic entry into the world of electrified motoring.

The hybrid model is however available in three model grades including the UX 250h EX, UX 250h SE and now a UX 250h F Sport model too.

Smooth operator

The front-wheel drive Lexus UX 250h F Sport is a smooth performer thanks to its fourth generation self-charging hybrid system, which combines good performance with high-speed responsiveness and linear acceleration.

On its own the 2.0-litre petrol engine delivers 107kW at 6000rpm and 180Nm at 4400rpm. When combined with electric motor, total power output increases to 135kW.

On the road this translates to the ability to complete the 0-100km/h sprint in only 8.5 seconds while using just 4.5 litres per 100km.

The Lexus UX is based on the lightweight yet super rigid structure of the Compact GA-C platform. An extremely low centre of gravity and refined suspension tuning give the UX exemplary handling and excellent ride quality despite its SUV credentials.

The signature Lexus spindle grille is unique to the UX in terms of a mesh pattern with individual elements that gradually change shape as they radiate out from the central Lexus emblem.

The F-Sport treatment

All LED headlamps incorporate L-shaped Daytime running lights. An exclusive grille design, sportier front and rear bumpers, jet-black trim on the front and rear mouldings, large fog lamp bezels with L-shaped chrome mouldings as well as a unique wheel designs differentiate the F-Sport models.

The suspension has been given sportier tuning, in addition F-Sport variants of the UX are equipped with the highly responsive Adaptive Variable suspension system that debuted on the Lexus LC and LS flagship coupe and sedan. This system increases damping force to minimise body roll when cornering and reduces damping force when driving in a straight line to preserve ride quality.

F-Sport exclusive cabin features include sport seats upfront constructed from a highly supportive integrated-foaming technique. A leather wrapped steering wheel, shift knob as well as eight-inch TFT colour display, aluminium pedals and footrest round off the interior package.

High level of safety

The UX 250h F Sport features a high level of safety equipment including eight airbags, adaptive cruise control, pre-crash system, blind spot monitor, lane keep assist and LED adaptive high-beam system.

The Lexus UX model retails from R745 100 for the hybrid EX grade, R824 000 for the hybrid 250h SE and R874 800 for the new hybrid F Sport.

All models are sold with a seven-year/105 000km warranty and full maintenance plan.
