Refreshed Audi Q2 launched
Styling, trim and equipment packages of Audi Q2 updated
Audi have refreshed their Q2, with a more distinctive exterior profile and striking details, which now form part of three trim lines.
Striking exterior
The Q2 features a sporty, elongated, unique exterior to which designers have now applied the polygon motif to the rear end too. The rear bumper now incorporates an integrated angular diffuser insert with large pentagons on each side. Upfront the surfaces below the headlights now have a more distinctive shape and larger air inlets appear more expressive. The grille is positioned lower than on the previous model, giving the frontal area a wider appearance.
In addition to the basic version, customers can opt for the advanced and S line exterior trim lines. On the basic version they are finished in black, on the Advanced models they are Manhattan grey and on S line models, they match the colour of the body. The optional black styling package enhances the expressive design with black accents.
Cutting edge technology
All Q2 models feature LED headlights, but this can be upgraded to Matrix LED upon request. The intelligently controlled high beam of this system illuminates the road as brightly as possible without blinding other drivers. Ten additional LEDs are used for the daytime running lights and seven for each of the dynamic turn signals.
At the rear Advanced and S line models are offered with LED technology and if equipped with Matrix headlights, the dynamic turn signal is present at the rear. Drivers are greeted by dynamic light sequencing when unlocking their Q2.
Under the bonnet
The Q2 is available in South Africa with one engine only. The 1.4 TFSI that powers the Q2 35 TFSI offers 110kW and 250Nm and is paired with an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox, allowing it to complete the 0-100km/h sprint in 8.8 seconds.
Inside story
The Q2 can comfortably carry five passengers in an elevated seating position while the boot can accommodate 405 litres or 1050 litres with the rear seats folded down.
Small enhancements such as the retouching of the round air vents and the gear knob refresh the interior while the S line interior package enhances the appearance of the cabin and can be fitted in conjunction with the Advanced and S line exterior trim lines. The seats are available with a variety of cloth or leather finishes depending on the trim line chosen.
An analogue instrument cluster with colour display is fitted as standard. This can be upgraded to the Audi virtual cockpit with a 12.3-inch central display as part of the Technology Package, which includes the smartphone interface and MMI navigation plus.
Package strategy
Audi will offer four distinct local equipment packages which group together popular optional extra equipment. These packages include the Tech Package, Black styling package and S line interior package.
Pricing and availability
The new Audi Q2 will officially go on sale from 1 June.
