Renaults' flagship SUV, the Koleos is a competent, luxury, well-equipped contender in the highly popular segment of the market. The new Koleos is distinguishable by a powerful design, refined interior and uncompromised safety standards.

What’s new?

Thanks to an assertive design and sophisticated interior, the new Koleos is as attractive as ever.

Upfront, eye catching C-shaped daytime running lights extend beyond the new LED headlight units. A new grille featuring luxurious chrome insets now extends all the way to the chrome-underlined fog lamps. The lower bumper receives a skid plate befitting the SUV characteristics. Depending on the model, the new Koleos is available with Pure Vision full LED main and dipped beam lights.

The rear of the Koleos is now equipped with wider LED taillights that accentuate the impression of width. A rear skid plate extends higher up the bumper while the twin chrome bumper garnish has been retained. Along with side protective mouldings, 18-inch alloy wheels add a more polished look.

The result is a vehicle that embodies Renault’s new design language while retaining the features that have always distinguished it from its competitors.

Inside story

A stylish interior features additional creature comforts such as customisable LED cabin lighting and heated and chilled front cup holders.

With one of the longest wheelbases in its class, the Koleos boasts class leading roominess for all occupants. Rear passengers benefit from class-leading knee room while there is 464 litres of boot space, which can be extended to 1 700 litres with the rear seats folded down. The comfort of the seats has been improved and the front seats now feature six-way power adjustment and lumbar adjustability.

The interior has been decorated with satin chrome inserts on the steering wheel, gear lever and air vents as well as foamed materials on the dashboard and door trims.

The centrally positioned dashboard display of up to 8,7-inches is fully integrated and features smartphone replication as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

Under the skin

The new Koleos’s go anywhere ability is boosted by approach and departure angles of 19 and 26 degrees respectively as well as a generous 210mm of ground clearance.

Under the bonnet is a 2.5-litre petrol engine that offers 126kW and 233Nm while using just 8,1-litres/100km on the combined cycle.

This engine is paired to a X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission that was designed to deliver greater driver enjoyment and reduced fuel consumption compared to a conventional automatic gearbox.

Renault claim that the X-Tronic transmission fitted to the Koleos performs more like a multi-ratio automatic than a CVT, especially when the driver needs to accelerate quickly. Thanks to variable ratios, X-Tronic transmission offers an infinite number of gears to ensure that engine revs and load are constantly optimised for efficient fuel consumption and low noise levels. The driver can also select a seven-speed mode, which offers engine braking functionality.

A five-star Euro NCAP rating was achieved thanks to the fitment of ABS, EBD, EBA, ESC and Hill Start Assist. Other safety features include Blind Spot Warning, 360-degree Park Assist and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring system.
