The spacious and versatile Renault Triber has become a popular choice since its launch two years ago. Now, in an attempt to broaden the appeal of the Triber, Renault South Africa has added a panel van to the range, which will be sold under the Triber Express moniker.

The result is a panel van that takes the innovative compact SUV design and utilises its impressive interior load space to accommodate the extensive needs of commercial vehicle customers at an affordable price point.

SUV styling with real load carrying capability

Thanks to its SUV roots, the Triber features bold styling that is accentuated by striking projector headlights, longitudinal roof rails, LED daytime running lights, a three-part triple edge chrome front grille and SUV style skid plates. 14-inch wheels are finished with stylish covers.

A prominent hood crease, strong shoulder lines, wheel arch flare and cladding add to a look of sturdiness. At the rear prominent horizontally designed lights overflow onto the tailgate. Indicators located within the side mirrors ensure better visibility of the driver’s intent.

Best in class ground clearance of 182mm, ensures that the Triber Express won’t be slowed by bad roads. The Triber Express is available in five colours including white, red, silver, blue and yellow, which will allow fleet owners to easily match their vehicle to the corporate identity of their business.

Inside story

Inside the driver’s seat offers six-way adjustability to ensure that drivers who will most likely be spending long periods in the vehicle are able to find a comfortable position. Standard equipment includes front electric windows and rear park distance control.

The Triber Express Panel Van has been specifically modified for the carrying of cargo and as such it offers class leading cargo space of 1500 litres and up to 542kg. A unique feature is that cargo can be loaded via either the rear doors or the hatch. A steel mesh separates the load area from the front passenger compartments and creates a barrier of safety.

The driver and front passenger compartment is modern and inviting and features a dual-tone trim dashboard along with silver accents. A fully digital instrument cluster with LED illumination and sporty graphics provides all the information needed in an easy to read format. This includes a gearshift indicator as part of the digital rev counter, a great tool for keeping your fuel consumption in check.

An easy to use infotainment system incorporates an R&Go radio, Bluetooth as well as USB and Aux inputs.

Under the bonnet

The Triber Express is equipped with the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine, producing 52kW and 96Nm, as the rest of the Triber range. This engine continues to offer a good balance between performance and fuel economy. Technology such as a dual VVT system as well as the low overall weight further contribute to nippy performance and incredible fuel consumption, with Renault claiming that the Triber will use just 5.5 litres/100km.

Passenger safety

Safety is a key selling point when it comes to modern commercial vehicles and as such the Triber Express is equipped with ABS and EBD. Passive safety is taken care of by equipment such as remote central locking, speed sensing door locking, three-point seatbelts, seat belt reminders, dual airbags and a reinforced body structure. A dual hooter is designed to function as an effective early warning system.
