The popular Renault Duster has been updated with new driving aids and equipment to ensure that it remains one of the foremost contenders in the B-SUV segment.

Designed and engineered to easily conquer tough road conditions; the Duster has been a huge success for Renault in South Africa, selling 23 000 units since its launch in 2013.

The updated model builds on the strengths of an extremely capable SUV, which is tough, simple and reliable, yet very accessible based on the value for money proposition it represents.

What’s new?

Exterior updates include a prominent new rear spoiler that rounds off the rear end, newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels and 17-inch Diamond Cut Wheels, striking silver roof rails and matching front and rear skid plates. The chrome trim of the grille alongside a raised waistline and newly updated C-shaped front and LED rear light signature with Daytime Running Lights complete the powerful new look.

Additional body colours include Comet Grey, Highland Grey, Iron Blue, Brown Vision, Fusion Red, Arizona Orange and Ice White.

With impressive off-road capabilities evident by the class leading ground clearance of 210mm as well as 30 and 34 degree approach and departure angles respectively, the Duster is ready for any adventure.

A new enhanced 4x4 monitor now includes an altimeter to effectively measure the level of altitude attained.

Inside story

Due to extremely clever packaging the Duster continues to offer the cabin space and comfort comparable to vehicles with much larger exterior dimensions. The enveloping seats have been redesigned and now feature new headrests while particular attention has been paid to the materials, fit and finish.

The interior has been fitted with on-board GPS navigation as well as wireless smartphone replication via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All this functionality is displayed on a new semi-flush 8-inch multimedia touch screen, which also acts as the display for the rear view camera.

Under the bonnet

The Renault Duster is available in in diesel only, with two versions of the 1.5 dCi turbo engine, in manual or EDC, to choose from. The 1.5 dCi in 4x2 guise offers 66kW and 210Nm and is said to use just 5,1 litres/100km on the combined cycle.

The 4x2 EDC and 4x4 manual versions offer outputs of 80kW and 250Nm or 260Nm respectively with impressive consumption of as low as 4,8 litres/100km.

The Duster is now available with a six-speed dual-clutch EDC automatic gearbox, that offers quick and smooth upshifts, no jerking or loss in acceleration and fuel consumption comparable to the manual at 4,8 litres/100km.

The updated Renault Duster is available from Renault dealerships countrywide as of the 8th of November.
