Updated Audi S8 combines luxury and performance

The all-new Audi S8 TFSI Quattro combines luxury and performance along with the latest technology to offer an unsurpassed driving and digital user experience. 

Familiar Audi S model characteristics such as the four flow-optimised pipes under a circumferential contour and distinctive blades around the air intakes hint at its premium design. 

Intrinsic technology includes digital matrix LED headlights and OLED rear lights, Audi pre-sense, virtual cockpit Plus and optional night vision assistant. 

Updated exterior design 

The sharpened design of the exterior is now even more representative, confident and athletic. The base of the single frame grille is now wider and is adorned with chrome angles that increase in size from the bottom to top. The headlights are freshly styled, with a lower edge that creates a distinctive contour. Side air intakes are now more upright. These updated elements all combine to significantly increase the S8’s presence and authority, while sharpening its profile as the brand’s flagship design. 

The standard Digital Matrix LED headlights feature digital micromirror device (DMD) technology that sees each headlight equipped with approximately 1.3 million micromirrors that break down the light into tiny pixels allowing it to be controlled with maximum precision. 

Under the bonnet 

The S8 is fitted with a biturbo V8 that offers 420kW and 800Nm, which gives this vehicle the capability to sprint from a standstill to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds. The engine is paired to an eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox, which works in conjunction with a self-locking sport differential to actively distribute torque between the rear wheels, making handling sportier and more stable. 

Predictive active suspension can load or unload individual wheels with additional power via an electric motor, which can be tailored via a variety of driving modes. 

Inside story 

Inside the S8 offers high levels of comfort for both the driver and passengers. The optional rear seat package delivers a three-seat system with two electrically adjustable individual seats, which includes electrical adjustment of the longitudinal seat position, backrest angle and backrest head adjustment. Rear seat infotainment includes two 10.1-inch displays with full HD resolution, which can receive numerous audio and video streams via casting. 

MMI Navigation Plus is standard and is supported by the third generation modular infotainment toolkit. The system relies on two displays measuring 10.1 and 8.6 inches respectively. The completely digital Audi virtual cockpit, with the standard head-up display, completes the display and operating concept.

The Audi S8 quattro is fitted with a variety of standard equipment including dynamic all wheel steering, adaptive cruise control, Audi connect2X and infotainment services, predictive active suspension, Valcona leather upholstery with diamond stitching, seat ventilation and massage function, Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound with 3D and Audi virtual cockpit Plus.

The Audi S8 TFSI Quattro is now on sale in South Africa at a price of R2 759 000 which includes a standard five-year/100 000km Audi Freeway plan.
