In South Africa the Defender 130 will be available with two engine options including the P400 mild-hybrid Ingenium six-cylinder petrol and the D300 Ingenium six-cylinder diesel.
As part of the expedition, Kingsley and his team have supported the planting of indigenous trees and spekboom plants to offset 100 percent of the expedition’s carbon footprint.
With 386kW on tap the Defender 90 V8 is capable of rocketing from standstill to 100km/h in only 5.2 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 240km/h, while the 110 takes 5.4 seconds to reach 100km/h.
This expedition will also be the first real-life expedition test for the new Defender, across two continents and a variety of extreme terrain.
